There are many people that wish to help ALIV but are unable to become involved with the programs due to location, time or schedule problems.
If you find yourself in this situation fundraising or donations might be the best way in which you can help us.
Without doubt volunteers and donations are the two most important factors needed in order to expand programs so that we can help more people more often.
Below are a number of ways in which you can help.
DONATIONS: Donations can be made by the following method.

DIRECT DEBIT & CREDIT CARD
You can direct debit directly into our accounts.

FUNDRAISING FOR ALIV
In our experience these are the two main and best ways to do fundraising.
PARTY
Get a bunch of friends together for a crazy party in whatever way you like to get crazy. And then simply charge everyone $10. 25 mates would equal $250 and would fund one excursion for the kids or other type of program that we do. (see current programs for more details)
In my experience large events take enormous amounts of time and stress and in some cases result in a loss of money. The above idea is easier and you can do it at your house where you don't even have to pay for the venue.
It is becoming more and more usual for many in the humanitarian community to celebrate their birthdays and functions this way. Not only are you having a great time with all your friends but you are helping and even saving lives in the process. And when your friends call an emergency meeting to discuss why you did all that embarrassing stuff, raising money for charity is a great excuse that gets me off the hook every time.
COLLECTING DONATIONS
The other way we find it easy to raise money for charity is the $10 a week system. Over a year this works out to be over $500. Collecting 10 of these gives your charity $5000 a year in a steady ongoing stream. Getting a group of 10 people together to collect 10 of these people each equals more than $50,000 for charity and for us would fund every program we have for a year. And if you have ever been involved in a charity event that tried to raise $50,000 this way, you will know that the above is much easier, involves less risk and is also less stressful.
If you are good at big events then by all means feel free to do one of those but if not the above methods are a really good way to raise money.
HOW DO I CHECK IF A DONATION I MADE TO ANOTHER VOLUNTEER OR PARTY WAS RECEIVED?
There is a big problem around the world with people collecting money on false pretences and illegally in the name of charity. Any volunteer collecting money on our behalf will have an ALIV Identification with their name and their ID number. Simply email us at aliv@aliv.org.au and we will confirm that that volunteer has forwarded on your donation or your party or event has done the same. We have never had any problems so far but I know being able to follow this up is important to many members of the public and we are happy to help in this way.
If you have any other questions or queries please don't hesitate to contact us at aliv@aliv.org.au or 0406 302 930.
